Robert Shay, M.D.
Dr. Shay is medical director of seven Fresenius dialysis
facilities in the greater Augusta area. He is a graduate of Fordham University
in New York, New York, and studied medicine at the University of Connecticut
Medical center in Farmington. He completed an internship and medical residency
in Internal Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He
completed a medical fellowship in nephrology at Temple University. After a short
term of private practice in Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Shay became chief of
Nephrology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Patterson, New Jersey. He has been in
private nephrology and critical care practice in Augusta, Georgia since 1995.
Dr. Shay served on the Medical Review Board of Network 3 for one term, as well
as serving on the Board of Directors for two terms. He now serves on the Network
6 Medical Review Board. Dr. Shay represents the Georgia-South Carolina
Nephrology Association on the Georgia Department of Human Resources Renal
Advisory Council. He has a special interest in the physical rehabilitation of
dialysis patients and is chief of staff of Walton Rehabilitation Center in
Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Shay lives in Martinez, Georgia with his wife Rae. They
have two sons and a daughter.
